When you reside in Canada you have to make a decision if you want to join the organ donate program. You do this by filling out a form when you obtain your drivers license. It is important to know however that filling out these donation cards does not ensure that your organs will be used when you die.
In order to make sure that your organs are put to the use that you intended you need to speak with your family. This is an important step because even though you have signed the organ donation card your family will have to make the final decision about your organs.
