Abortion and The Law
Abortion is a topic that is often debating in the Media and more often than not the lines of the law regarding abortion get blurred. In Canada every woman has access to abortions as long as they have a valid health card and are over the age of sixteen. Abortions are performed in hospitals and some clinics free of charge.
It is important to note that if a person is under the age of sixteen that there are still abortion options available to them. If your health care provider believes that you are capable of making this crucial life changing decision on your own than you will not require the consent of your parents or guardian.
Despite popular belief there is no time frame on how late an abortion can be performed according to Canadian law. These standards (Which are usually within the first 12 to 20 weeks depending on the situation) are set by the hospital polices.
